That is, if you use one. We are a butter family. I use it in baking and as
a spread for muffins and toast. But it's time to cut back on that, since
hubby was just diagnosed with high cholesterol. Now, the doc says it's
hereditary in his case, but why not start a healthier way of eating?

So I'm looking at like a bazillion different types of margarines, and have
no idea what to get. I'm still planning on baking with butter, but I'm
looking for a really good tasting spread for our muffins and whatnot. Most
of what I have tasted in the past tastes pretty gacky...

This site has some suggestions. We use the I Can't Believe It's Not
Butter. We use so little at home that it really doesn't matter to
us<g> A small tub will last us a month or longer.

We use Brummel & Brown spread w/ yogurt. My husband doesn't miss butter at
all with it. Personally I use "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" spray on
everything but I'm not much of a butter person. I use fat free cream cheese
spread thinly on my english muffins.

I'm not a butter person either. I use it in recipes but don't miss it
on english muffins, etc. DH uses the "spreadable butter with canola
oil" just because he can pull it right from the fridge. We had some
vegan stuff in the house (one of those cholestrol brands) from when we
had the Vegan Houseguest from Hell but I was told that it did not spread
very well and to please go back to the Land O Lakes next time. I use
the Whole Foods dairy unsalted butter in baking (no bovine growth
hormones, etc.)
