From: Blondie on 29 Sep 2005 15:39 Anyone have any numbness in their hands at night? I wake up and the last two digits of both hands (usually) are numb...this is my little finger and ring finger, along with that half of my hand down to the wrist. Sometimes, I have an area that goes numb right above my elbow (before what I think is my deltoid muscle) on both sides too. I've had an EMG/NCS test to see if it's something like carpal tunnel...but nothing is showing on that. thx, B|ondie

Yes. Most every night. Weird too because they're numb to the touch, but *INSIDE* the hand, it hurts, hurts, HURTS!! > I wake up and the last two digits of both hands (usually) are numb...this is > my little finger and ring finger, along with that half of my hand down to > the wrist. Pinky fingers (on both hands), and pointer finger (only on right hand). In between my pointer finger and thumb on down to my wrist on my right hand hurts terribly when I have a flare up. (Which has been flaring up for days now). > Sometimes, I have an area that goes numb right above my elbow > (before what I think is my deltoid muscle) on both sides too. > > I've had an EMG/NCS test to see if it's something like carpal tunnel...but > nothing is showing on that. When *all* this started for me (when the pain first came), it started in my hands. I worked at Home Depot, and we (me and husband) thought for SURE that it was carpal tunnel... then the pain started in/around the rib area... then the entire nightmare of fibro was discovered. Numbness is definitely a factor for me... too bad it's not pain free tho'!!! -- ?.??? ?)) -:?:- ?.?? .????)) From: DeeDee on 29 Sep 2005 18:06 Blondie, I have had this happen to me quite often. Someone mentioned to me to be aware of how I hold my hands while sleeping. Duh......I sleep on my side and was twisting my wrist and fingers in a very strange way under the pillow .....cutting off circulation. It still happens off and on, and most of the time I have found my hands in that weird position. Just a thought. Dana

I think we tend to curl our hands more than we realize when we sleep, thus cutting off circulation. Might be worth a try. Kathy in Sacto

My wife has Fibro and has experienced the same thing, though also in her feet/ankles - all stemming from her need to sleep on her right side (her left hip gived her the most severe pain). I belive she also curls her hand/wrist excessively causing that particular pain & numbness.
