From: MZB on 27 Sep 2008 17:56 OK, I have had significant intestinal problems. I was dx. with Crohn's Disease (they found inflammation in the terminal ileum), but of late that dx. has been revised due to clear colonoscopies. My symptoms have been more IBSish. My most distressing symptom has been constipation. It can get miserable and last for a few months. So far, I;ve tried plenty of nostrums (increased fibre, miralax, etc) to no avail. There is a drug called amatiza, but that has many side effects and I've been hesitant to try it. I've tried accupuncture and the only thing that moved was that green stuff in my wallet. There is a full page ad in today's newspaper. Basically, a new practice: naturopathic medicine. Have any of you tried it? Is it more BS? Has it helped? Mel

I would sit down and have a talk w/ your GI about your dx. On what basis was the original dx made? If it was by pathology, as it should have been, then I don't see how this would change. Could it be you are in remission due to meds? If so, then continuing your med regiment would seem important to maintaining remission. CD can be managed, but NOT cured. CD can also not show on a colonoscopy if the effected area is above where the scope can reach, i.e. in the ileum and above. I have used a nutritionist to supplement my medical regiment, which is helpful. The person I see is an MD who took the time to learn about CD and the medications I take. I wouldn't see someone based on an advertisement but rather personal recommendation. That is how I found my nutritionist. :) mgbio MZB wrote: > OK, I have had significant intestinal problems. > > I was dx. with Crohn's Disease (they found inflammation in the terminal > ileum), but of late that dx. has been revised due to clear colonoscopies. > > My symptoms have been more IBSish.
