From: writer on 4 Oct 2008 21:47 Does anyone have high blood pressure with their hypothyroidism that doesn't respond to medication? It drives me and my docs crazy. I refuse to take extra meds. One time they increased the dosage and it gave me heart palpitations immediately. I tried walking daily for awhile and that helped for about 2 weeks and to make it worse my pressure always reads higher at the doc when than when I check. Any ideas. Laura Bell

OK, I'm confused.. it doesn't respond to medication, but you don't want to take extra medication? Are you talking about blood pressure medication or thyroid medication? Usually if one blood pressure medication doesn't work there are others to try. > >I tried walking daily for awhile and that helped for about 2 weeks and >to make it worse my pressure always reads higher at the doc when than >when I check. This is common. Also is your doctor checking your blood pressure himself? My blood pressure comes out differently at different doctors even. Those automatic machines also vary in their readings. How are you taking it at home? An arm band is better than wrist and a friend who can take with cuff and stethoscope even better. You are home and relaxed and that is the accurate way [if the reader is good]. Barbara Needham >Any ideas. > >Laura Bell

Traditional 5 element accupuncture. Also ... move out the body armor of the frozen emotion locked in your muscle memory. To much freeze response out of the Sympathetic Nervous System. Sooooo ... maybe hot tubs ... massage ... hot yoga ... then ice your self down A LOT. Lots of ice ... then heat your self up ... streatch ... and ice down again. Working ... driving up energy ... pushing harder is NOT THE WAY TO GO. RELAXING ... slowing down ... making the Parasympathic Nervous System come forward is where you will get change. Your body is to TIGHT ... around your arteries and muscles that hold them. Have to open that up ... relax it down ... make it better with more ease, happiness, love, and hope ... stuff like that. Changing the emotional bathwater is such a help that way. Not being in anger, fear, stress, banging things around. Look into any Metabolic Disorder such as Adrenal Burnout Syndrome. Your psychophysiology always being in first gear ... never learned about 3rd gear ... and relaxing to sleep in a place of love. Comes from good parenting and handeling the toddler tantrum correctly in childhood. This will all make things better that way ... I am hyperthyroid by clinical mandate .. as a chemotherapy to keep thryoid cancer quiet .. and I got my cholesterol down to high normal by taking fish oil capsules ... seems to help the blood pressure as well. 5000 grams (or 4 ... 1.25 gram capsules a day) ... to start. See if that helps any as well. All my best ... always. sumbuddie who cares :)

The extra medication I was referring to was blood pressure. I can't take the one that makes you cough. And that and the one I am on are the only ones covered by my insurance. It simply doesn't work. Thanks.
