From: Janice on 28 Aug 2005 13:31 Many bottom posts never get read by most as they are just too much effort for the content they may contain at the bottom. Most people have read all the attachments anyway. They are only required for reference and continuity. From: B-- on 28 Aug 2005 18:26 Have you been on THIS NG long? We do not insist on bottom posting, folks here are more inclined to police the information (see what happens if you post something misleading about celiac), not the method of posting it. And it's the etiquette of the group you're on at the moment that counts, not the etiquette of other groups. As to ham, I read the labels; as I do with any product that's going to end up in my gut, no matter how "whole" the food may appear to be - appearances can be deceptive. Heck, I've had to give up toothpastes, painkillers, antacids, etc etc etc. Anything can have gluten added in one form or another, and you can't be too careful. It costs nothing to post using the preferred method. Actually Usenet Etiquette specifies bottom posting AND editing down the text quoted to just enough to give context. People that top post don't edit down the text. Why? IMO they are simply lazy. Usenet is supposed to be in a question - answer format. Don <www.donwiss.com> (e-mail link at home page bottom).

First and lastmost. There are ***NO*** Usenet rules. There are, however, many rule making wannabees that have strong preferences and want to see their name in lights on a webpage somewhere. Bottom posting made sense before the time of threading browsers. Now, why would anybody post their attached reference text or their enclosed references before their comment? Not many would do this in an actual hard copy letter or a technical document. The argument is moot and outdated and most prefer the top posting method because they have already read the previous posts and don't need to see it all again (waste of bandwidth and memory). Most do not want to have to scroll to the bottom of a post only to scroll back up again to the top of the new post text either. But, then again,. some are masochists also. I can read any style but won't likely scroll to the bottom and part way back up unless you are one interesting girl/guy. Many prefer the headers with the text they belong to, not scrambled all over the post in a nested fashion. Above all, like Don said "TRIM" "Don Wiss" <donwiss(a)no_spam.com> wrote in message news:gsg4h1pktpbng8cm1ih7n4k3jec0chuccq(a)4ax.com... > On Sun, 28 Aug 2005, Tom Kelsall <sqadminNS(a)NSPntlworld.com> wrote: > Actually Usenet Etiquette specifies bottom posting AND editing down the > text quoted to just enough to give context.
