From: janers on 3 Dec 2007 23:36 Well the verdict is in. I saw my cardiolgist today and she said NO heart cath unless the surgeon had to do a graft or bypass of the subclavian. But am set up for a echo stress test come april to check some things out. the thing I have is subclavian Steal!!! and it is rare and was told they usually see 1 case in maybe a year if that. Headed to the surgeon and he had met with the Head surgeon in this area. He is the best and he and my surgeon looked over the pictures from different angles and decided there was blood flow from the right side that is supplying my left arm as well as some from the left side. The artery blocked partially is subclavian and it would be the area of bypass IF the symptoms I am having as so bad that they are bothering me to the point I can not put up with it. It is not dangerous as they first thought after seeing the different areas now. Hubby asked if this could cause a stroke in me but surgeon said he would not think so but if symptoms gets more and more or worse then indeed he would do a bypass. But for right now it was up to me to decide if I could put up with it. I will put up with it. I have had symptoms of this since early spring so this is holding stable. I have a copy of the CD and angiogram so if something goes wrong hubby knows were to take me. We are leaving like we planned and I am not worried it will get worse. I asked him about Takayasu's arteritis which is inflammation of the arteries in the neck and brain area. People with lupus and inflammatory disease have this. he said he didn't think it was that because that usually is higher in the brain area not where my blockage is. But the cardiolgist said it might, so they are not sure. With my luck inflammtion might be a problem. It has been the culprit to most all my medical things anyhow. http://www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/40000717/ is a good page to see what they call what I have, if anyone needs some information on it. Pulse in my left arm is very faint an barely felt but there is good color and circulation so he says. Again we will leave and I will enjoy this winter. Life is short enjoy when you can God bless you guys and thanks so much for your concern and for your prayers love you all janers -
