I have inherited depression, so it will never go away completely. But your
imagery is still largely true. Most of the time, I am about 90% recovered.
It is more like a virus that recurs every so often.

I have also inherited depression & it still goes down the line, my
nephew has depression.I am sad to say I am a 30 year old woman that
does not want to have a child, because I would not want anyone to
every go through what I have gone through. I know that might never
happen but I would never forgive myself if it did happen. It kills me
to even think of anyone else in this world wanting to die, thinking
they have no way out in this life, or feeling worthless. I over think
EVERYTHING.
