Is there any consensus on how much creatine one should take and how often?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

No need to load. 2-3 grams per day will give you saturation. No need
for more than 5 grams per day, particularly if you experience muscle
cramps or diarrhea from creatine intake.

Thanks. I'm something of a novice, so I appreciate the info. The pills I
bought appear to contain two grams of creatine each. So I guess just one a
day would be adequate? If I take two a day, should I split them up or take
them together?

One a day should be enough. A half hour before a workout, try two.

Most importantly, don't buy the overpriced capsules. Buy a
decent-but-cheap creatine monohydrate powder that's undergone HPLC
analysis. The more finely ground (micronized), the better. It's
tasteless, and you can mix it with whatever you drink, particularly a
pre-workout protein drink.
