There is much discussion of this type at alt.privacy.spyware and if you are
among the lucky, you will find your answer there. My humble guess is that
you are infected with 'spyware' or worse (I use 'superantispyware' and
'ad-aware' with success for these problems - both are free). Google for
links.
If it's not spyware, but only Microsoft trying to get you to upgrade your
browser, don't worry, go to Microsoft's website and look for 'upgrades' for
IE.

Go to www.download.com and download Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware
by Lavasoft can be found at www.lavasoftusa.com Besure to update them
and run the scans it may take the hijack out of the IE program. My only
doubt is you have a new variant of Spyware Quake it's taken on a lot of
different names now. The way we get rid of it is by running our shops
utilities and removing the infection. Make sure your Antivirus is
updated and I would scan with that but it's doubtful it will find
anything if it's loaded into memory. If you don't have an AntiVirus
program I would suggest downloading and using AVGFree. You can get that
at http://free.grisoft.com ... *hopefully* this will help. These new
spyware programs are getting tricky even for us techs.
