I am a type 2 diabetic and my blood sugar dropped below 100 my blood
sugar was at 83 then at before dinner it was 83 again and I was
shaking nervous and jittery how much insiulin is my mother supposed to
inject into me when my sugar is low and can my blood sugar drop again
if I do not get any insulin into my body?

First, your BG was not that low. 83 is leaning towards hypo, but still a
normal number.

Second, you do NOT inject insulin when you are low. That would just make
you lower. Do you even have any insulin? If so, what kind? There are
different kinds used for different reasons.

If you are truly low (how low, low is for you is something you need to
discuss with your Dr.), you need to eat 15 g of fast acting carbs. My
target range is supposed to be between 90 and 130 now.

How long have you had diabetes? Have you been to diabetes education
classes? Sounds like you need them.

Well, for starters, 83 is not low. 83 =-3 is the average for a healthy
non-diabetic - it is also my target level. If you experienced hypo
symptoms at that level it is because your level has been highly elevated
for a long time and your body has become adjusted to it. As you normalize
your levels, that should not be a problem.

There is a divergence of opinions but in many checks on normal
people the numbers are almost always 90+. I do not have low sugar
symptoms until my blood sugar is below 70. But in my case the blood
sugar will continue to go down until I am unconscious with a very
small excess of insulin.

There used to be people that had low blood sugar symptoms without
a diagnosis of diabetes.

In my opinion there is no standard case but each person must be
evaluated. We need to find our personal parameters and then
learn what we must do to live with them.

I have arrived at the opinion I was grossly mishandled and
the only answer is A Time history of each diabetic to verify
their status.. Most of my miscues by the docs is the old assume
and guess game. The equipment exists to do better.

Recently a doc phoned in a prescription for me. My wife
picked it up. It was "Juandiva" ? I had just told the fellow
i have normal insulin sensitivity with quoted numbers and
have a hypo problem.

Listen to the ads for this drug with the warning that it is not for
T1's and can cause hypos.

Some are too liberal with exact advice. Medical guessing is
as obsolete as corsets.
