From: gamstang on 19 Feb 2006 14:06 i have had sore nostrils for the past month. It started with the left, and now both are sore. There's lots of blood, but it doesn't drip out. They scab over with bloody scabs inside, and there is green hard mucous. Sorry for the horrible detail, but i'm concerned and I'm hoping it's just because of hypothyroid or hypoadrenal. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks.

From: gamstang on 19 Feb 2006 14:34 Lol!! I know what you mean! If I stopped picking maybe it would heal! If it didn't get it out it would probably look horrible though. I asked a pharmacist and they told me to put vaseline inside the nostrils to protect them, I might start trying it. From: John Riggs on 19 Feb 2006 15:07 Why don't you try a sterile saline nasal spray. Vaseline may feel good initially, but simply keeping the moisture spray handy and using it when you are dry will make a world of difference. Thanks. I don't know where you live, but I think that it has to do with lack of humidity/dry weather/heat use. I have found that using polysporin on a q-tip solves the problem within a day or two. I have had this problem for so long and it has gotten so bad at times, that I think it has finally affected my sense of smell. I don't smell things as intensly as I used to and I can't taste food as well as I used to. The advantage of both of those is that I can' t smell bad smells that used to bother me and for food, well, I just don't eat as much as I used to. The downside is not enjoying the intense smells of flowers, fresh air, clean hair and the awesome tastes of food. Oh well...all part of getting older. |
