I have seen a doctor & now am seeing a gastroenterologist but neither
one can figure out what's wrong. I have had discomfort & horrible gas
that hasn't gone away & i have had this problem for 2 1/2 yrs now
can't get a job or do social activities the gas is so bad. I have
tried all kinds of medicine, over-the-counter & a few that my doctors
have given me, but nothing takes the symptoms away. I am going to
have a colonoscopy done. Do you think this could be something
serious? I need help in figuring out what this is. i need to get a
job soon & have wanted to start making some friends & dating. please
help. thanks.

My guess is that something has damaged your intestinal and/or colon
lining. Start transitioning to easily absorbed diets, ie cooked fruits
and veggies, well cooked rice and small amounts of lean protein.
Minimize hard to digest foods such as sucrose, lactose and legumes.
What is your current diet?

Best thing is to have that colonoscopy done. Sometimes it doesnt prove
anything but can eliminate some of the 'nasties'. I understand what
you are talking about, I had a gstro/colonoscopy done a few months
back and didnt show anything. I have tried a lot of things to change
the obvious symptoms that I feel, and I have had a great deal of help
from this site. Here's a tip I learnt from a friend I have gained from
here that has helped me - peanut butter. I start my day with toast
with peanut butter, I have Caltrate tablets 3 times a day - I watch
what I eat and don't eat the obvious gassy things like onons, cabbage
etc, and take note of what affects me. I cant eat lollies or lots of
sugary things. I wont eat spicy foods, but it doesnt stop you from
enjoying food & living. If I have to do the mad dash to the loo, well
my friends know that and accept that they might have to do that too
after something that they eat. We are all human!

Having the colonoscopy will help determine what is really going on. I
had one done last year and was diagnosed with IBS. I too have the
discomfort and gas, but it isn't as bad as it used to be. Someone
already asked, what's your current diet?

BTW, I am a newbie here, so be gentle :-)

Well just got back from the colonoscopy. Nothing. *sigh* there is
one more test to do that I know of where they test for celiac disease,
then I don't know of anything else I can do after that. I can't just
leave it alone though, labeling it IBS, I know it has to be something
that can be fixed.
