From: Bob on 12 Jul 2008 13:47 Could anyone with clinical experience please check http://hierax.diinoweb.com/files/My%20Photo%20Album/606080735.JPG to see if this is possible or likely melanoma? The red area has a border. It bleeds when disturbed. It can be scraped out completely leaving a pit that again fills in with the red growth. It otherwise remains the same size. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Thanks I think you should have that excised as soon as possible (with wide margins), followed by radiation therapy, if it proves to be malanoma. If it is, and that's near your armpit, they may want to remove lymph nodes, so pick a hospital that has specialists in melanoma. It could be something else, but the sooner you get moving on it, the better. J [not an expert]

From: xela56 on 14 Jul 2008 18:33 Bob, See dermatologist, they can biopsy the area, they can also do a clinical exam. If you can't get an appointment soon with a derm your PCP can biopsy and give you a treatment plan. Good luck. Thanks for the information and concern. I have gotten an appointment to be seen by a GP this next month; he can then refer me to a specialist.
