Hi,

I was reviewing my newsgroup subscriptions and noticed this one - it
appealed to me because I think thinking in terms of recovery is arguably
more important than just thinking/talking about depression, although I
am probably depressive by nature and may have to be resigned to some
medication for life.

I know that my moods do respond to external events, so I've been looking
for 'things that work' - and the clear winners are music and dance, so
I've been actively pursuing those for a while now.

I'm currently on mirtazapine and citalopram for the D - the former is
useless as an AD for me, but helps me sleep, whereas SSRIs like
citalopram do help a bit with the D.

enough for now.

Hello, Greg. I am glad that you are making progress, and that the Citalopram
is working for you.

Mirtazapine (Remeron) didn't work for me either. I'm on Zoloft now and
didn't realize 'normal' was so good - I'm actually happy now! Not so
good in the sex department but it wasn't that great before, actually.
It's close, but right now I'd rather be alive than screwed!

I'm glad for you! If Zoloft is causing you some sexual dysfunction, there
are ways to deal with it. You might check out my Web site for some
suggestions.

I agree up to a point - but I was on paroxetine for 8 years. It worked
quite well as an AD but sex went way down - and after 8 years it wasn't
enough fun any more, so I came off it (very hard btw - was put on
mirtazapine to help do it (!)) and crashed badly. Now the citalopram
helps with the D and does not damage the sex bit too much.
