From: KCat on 21 Aug 2008 21:36 It's been raining here for several days. But you know I love the stuff. We had a brutal July. Woulda thought it was August then. Well, August has been easier because of all the rain. Still, glad I'm not in FL. I'm going inside books. I've read 8 thus far for this class. Retain any of it? Who knows. But I've read 'em! :) Iron Jerk sure seems to have taken over. Speaking of dogs and travel - Hubby and I were discussing where we would go if we had to for work. I would love to see England again (not to mention Scotland, Wales, & Ireland) but I remembered a law back in days of yore re: detaining incoming pets. Are those draconian measures still in place? No way I could kennel Ming for even a day. Wasn't it like six weeks of quarantine? Ming wouldn't fit in a box. He tries to fit in my lap but... (If you think all this is complicated be thankful Ming isn't a ferret!) It looks to me that the import of a dog from mainland USA to European Union without quarantine IS possible; he would have to be vaccinated against rabies, microchipped, de-flea'd etc. Also there seem to be considerable restrictions on how the animal may travel - certainly not by sitting on your lap! Probably in a special dog-crate, that goes in the (pressurised!) hold, and arranged by an approved company; maybe not on the same plane. Also, there are requirements on travel between one country and the next, and some look as if they take time especially for "non-resident dogs". If you & Ming are planning a multi-country trip, I'd suggest sending the schedule to the helpdesk mentioned on the above websites and asking if it is in principle possible. > >Ming wouldn't fit in a box.
