From: Sebastian on 4 Aug 2008 00:09 It is generally believed that it is almost impossible to lower your Xanax (alprazolam) dose by yourself, and I found that to be true, the tapering was done in a hospital. I went from about 10 mg Xanax/day to 1.5 mg Xanax Depot/day, it was hell. But I am glad now that I am free from the dependence. I am now on Cipralex (escitalopram) and Remeron (mirtazapin), and it is much better than Xanax. Is there anyone else that have done something similar?

If it was hell you did taper your dose much much too fast But I am glad now that I am free from the dependence. Benzo dependence is the same thing as a diabetic is dependent on insuline. I am now on > Cipralex (escitalopram) and Remeron (mirtazapin), and it is much better > than Xanax. > Cipralex made me feel good only when i was manic, otherwise it sucked. Remeron was same thing.

Just curious, have you quite benzos completely now? I.e. did you go from 1.5 mg Xanax/day to none on your own after you left the hospital? Also, how come you quit using Xanax? Did you have to keep increasing the dose to get the same benefit as before? I.e. did you never reached a stable dose where you felt comfortable? ** Posted from http://www.teranews.com **

And I was in fact abusing it since no doctor (at least in Sweden) will prescribe 10 mg/day, I got at most 4 mg/day legally. > ** Posted from http://www.teranews.com **
