From: One on 13 Oct 2006 20:13 I took this one using the tape measure method. http://www.linear-software.com/online.html I got 31% body fat. Previously I got 32%. Then I took this one: http://www.healthcentral.com/cholesterol/home-body-fat-test-2774-143.html?ic=4002 and I got 18% bf!!! Then I took this one: http://www.csgnetwork.com/bodyfatcalc.html and I got 38% bf Then I took this one: http://www.he.net/cgi-bin/suid/~zone/prothd1 and got 26% (BTW, where is my waist supposed to be? Is it the narrowest part of my body (which is just a bit below my breasts? (27") or is it where my belly button is (31")? I'm assuming it's where my belly button is, except for when they say to measure the narrowest part. I took this one: http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/bfb and got 25.53% based on the US Navy body fat formula and 38.13% based on the YMCA formula In this calculator they asked for my narrowest point and measurement at navel. I'm going to be not so optimistic and assume my body fat is 38% :-( I know for sure I have a lot of body fat. Even my knees are fat. I'm obese at 112 lbs. I have a normal BMI yet I'm obese according to my body fat.

It has me at 17.5 % body fat, but I am actually at 11% body fat, if the reistance testing is any more accurate. It appears that the only really reliable test is the underwater test, though, and nobody around here does those. Maybe I'll go in the business and charge about $50 per test. dkw

Probably within 1-2% of where I'm at, and with the least amount of measurements. But of course, it will depend on where you tend to carry most of your fat... > > (BTW, where is my waist supposed to be? Is it the narrowest part of my > body (which is just a bit below my breasts? The narrowest point is generally considered the natural waist, and is usually above the bellybutton just a bit. It is "supposed" to be 10" smaller than your hips, for the best proportions. > I'm going to be not so optimistic and assume my body fat is 38% :-( That's stupid. These tests are soooo varied and subjective, why would you take the test with the absolute worst results and go by that??? The thing for you to do is go to your local gym and request a 7 site caliper test. Quit trying to figure your bodyfat from an internet calculator. They aren't accurate for everyone. Perhaps after you find out where you really are, you can go back through the different sites and figure out which one is closest to you. But until then, you are merely stabbing in the dark. > > I know for sure I have a lot of body fat. Even my knees are fat. > > I'm obese at 112 lbs. The moral of the story - What you are doing is going out of your way to confuse yourself. As you can see it's working out just fine that way. The point of body fat percentages is the *change* over time, not the fact that each method is different from the next. If you have two scales and they read 10 pounds different, did you lose 10 pounds by stepping on one and then one the other? Nope! Did you gain 10 ten pounds by switching back to the first one? Nope! Pick a method and try it again next month. THAT has meaning. What you're doing now doesn't have meaning.
