Long time no see or hear folks. I hope and pray that all are as well
as can possibly be. Now that Spring has sprung, we'll get rid of the
Winter blahs and start to bloom again.

I'm feeling pretty well and holding my own. Had a rather frustrating
episode where I developed an internal 'itch' that would 'migrate' to
every part of my body. One moment it would occur at one region and
shift to another on a random basis. Nothing I used offered any relief.
Now, that I mentioned that, it's time for me to be honest as to the
reason why. After 26 years of being totally sober, I experienced a
'slip' (as defined by A.A.) a couple of years ago. Ironically, the
problem with itching started when I fell off the wagon. From what I've
read and discussed with my rheumy, it's likely the cause was due to my
kidneys not properly being able to process the intake of alcohol and
rid all that was in my system. As strange as it sounds, but by reading
into the blood tests I had, my rheumy determined just by reading the
numbers, that my kidneys are similar in structure to those of a monkey
(I ain't kidding about that). Quite simply put, they're not of the
capacity that my body requires. But not all is lost, where good fate
and attitude brought me back to total sobriety since I haven't touched
a drop of booze since last August. When I again became sober, the
itching condition completely vanished where more than likely the sauce
was the link and common denominator. Does this make sense to my
brother / sister S.D. victims?

Hey Bob! Good to hear from you. I'm still kicking, with just the annoying
little
problems (different ones all the time).
That's very interesting about the itching/alcohol - congrats on the soberity
BTW! Yeah, that makes sense. If you put rubbing alcohol on your skin often,
it'll dry it out. If your kidneys aren't breaking down the stuff, it's the
same thing,
but on a cellular level. I bet that was crazy bad itching!

Keep on keepin' on brother,

dave

Good to hear from you too Dave. Thank you for your support concerning
my sobriety. Had a dear lady friend from NJ not popped in unexpectedly
and caught me stinkin' plastered, I'd more than likely would be still
drinking. It was the shortest visit she ever paid me where she stormed
out of my house 15 minutes after she arrived. That being said, it was
the best thing to happen since going back on the wagon took care of
the itching as well as screwing my head back tight on my shoulders. It
was the most excruciating and frustrating malady I ever experienced. I
should have known better since SD and booze get along like dog and
cat. BTW - things are 'all forgiven' way down yonder in NJ. ;-)

As always, I wish you and all that visit here the best of the best of
the best. I hope to see more posts like the days when this newsgroup
was more active. Time will tell.
CHEERS,
BOB
