From: AC on 17 Feb 2006 12:27 I met my husband online.. I know, I know.. heard it all.. anyway.. We dated for 4 years.. and then I immigrated here to live with him and we then got married. We have been married for almost 6 years. This is a second marriage for both of us. Basically I was duped, for lack of a better word, and now I am wondering when enough is enough. I have spent days analyzing our relationship and have come to the conclusion that divorce is the only answer. We have so many issues. He is never around because he is working, we have NO friends, we never socialize, we have different parenting skills, different morals, values and ways of doing things. I have given up my friends, family and country to be with him and I feel it was all for nothing. He is very rigid and refuses to compromise on the issues that bother me. We have been arguing about them for a long time and nothing ever changes. I have come to the conclusion that he may be an emotional abuser. I just don't know what to do or what to think. I have no support and no one to talk to about this. thanks for listening DW
From: Longshot on 17 Feb 2006 13:25 did you marry him just for immigration purposes?
From: DW on 17 Feb 2006 14:01 absolutely NOT! We dated for 4 years... then we got a fiance visa.. I did't move here and then go through the process like a lot of people do. I married him because I loved him.. but he portrayed himself as someone he is not. I will go back to Canada if we divorce.. so NO, this is not an immigration issue.
