From: welshboy on 2 May 2006 13:18 Well, being in a positive mood I thought I would expand on the earlier post asking what was your worst antidepressant medication. The most effective meds that I have taken are: Citalopram and esCitalopram. Same thing really anyway. Had 5 years completely symptom free, could not believe how wonderful life was without depression. Fuc&ed it all up by taking cocaine one night and was ill for 18 months. Lamotragine (Lamictal). Wonderful drug that has really given me a new lease of life - works well with esCitalopram for me.

From: malamala on 3 May 2006 11:50 Best and safest all around: LAMICTAL. Why? Yes there is the rash, but you know it if you get it. Beyond that here's my reasoning. It's best for people with serious complex depression problems (not people popping paxil cause their puppy died) because it is safe (first) and effective. Safe is important. If you have BP or latent BP then SSRIs and friends are going to make it worse--permanently. Trigger. Then, it is effective in many people w/not so bad side effects (except the flesh eating rash--just kidding) who don't respond well to the big guns. As for worst: DOXEPIN then ELAVIL

My best drug has been pamelor (nortriptyline)...have had no luck with SSRIs. I'm currently on 60mg of Cymbalta and have noticed some improvement but I would expect more from something so new.

At various times, Wellbutrin: for energy Depakote: for irrational anger Dostinex: for anhedonia and lack of libido Selegiline: for energy, anhedonia, and lack of libido -- Nom dePlume, Ph.D. Why, yes, in fact, I am a rocket scientist.
