Sunday the 14th, Cincinnati got hit with a hurricane. For those outside the
States, Cincinnati is about 1000 miles inland! Hurricane Ike hit Texas,
took a right and came up through the heartland over the top of Curtis's
Evansville, over me and causing 8 inches of rain in Ron B's Chicago.

Power was knocked out through 90% of a 300 by 100 mile swath. I was lucky.
We got ours back in 18 hours. My daughter lost hers, days later went to the
hospital, delivered my 6th grandchild, and came home yesterday to still no
power. My other daughter lost hers for four days (and delivered by 7th
grandchild this morning). Due to the power outages, I worked Sunday night,
15 hours on Monday, and 13 on Tuesday and found out that I'm either getting
older or ADT is starting to wear me down.

So, I lost about 10 pounds of meat and gained 18 pounds in grandchildren.
Not a bad trade.

Wow! I'd say you deserve to put your feet up and enjoy a large, stiff
drink! Congratulations on #6 and #7!

Wow. What a storm!
And I guess the stork was blown inland also.
Congradulations with the new addition and maybe just all the excitement was
what really wore you out.
You deserve a break now, and catch your breath....

Now there's an excellent idea. I also have a cigar up on my cabinet and a
deck and 70 degree weather. What the hell am I doing in here!?!?

Congratulations, Gramps!! Correct me if I am wrong, but I think I
remember when the FIRST grandchild was born.....those kids of yours are
keeping busy!!

FWIW, we got hit by Ike way up here as well.....but it turned out to
just be a rather heavy downpour.

I am still waiting to hear that my friend in Houston is OK. She wrote
the day before it hit and said they had their cars gassed up but
couldn't get out due to the incredibly heavy traffic. 5 hours to go 40
miles north, so they stayed.

Enjoy the scotch and soda.....Heather
