From: Skog on 6 Mar 2007 20:30 Do you want people to help you or leave you alone? If help, what would you like them to do to help? Do you want professional help, rather than help from people in your work. family, or school life? After you get past the answers like, "I just want it all to go away and be normal," or "I want a pill to make me feel like everyone else," what is it that might be more realistic that you want? I'm hoping to get some responses to help me gauge the reasonableness of what I want others to do. Thanks
From: Jack on 6 Mar 2007 22:17 I've thought about all aspects of this for many years. Along the way, certain things seem like milestone revelations. After time, the great revelation fades, replaced by a new one a month or a year later. What I'm thinking lately relates to the fact that I've been a loner all my life, for various reasons. I also prefer it that way. I would feel very squeamish to be on the receiving end of Oprah-style fawning and hugging and that sort of "support". But what would be really helpful is to have people to hang around with who think like I do and would back me up in all situations. I've had more than a few girlfriends but I am always the leader, so that's different. Anyway, like it or not I am a human and so I have that lower part of the brain which needs to be part of a group. But since most humans are plain, ordinary, boring and also amoral, selfish and greedy, I don't want to be part of their groups. It's a Catch 22. Well, that's a start but I've learned no to type too much here since it's usually like talking to a wall :) On 6 Mar 2007 17:30:08 -0800, "Skog" <theskog(a)juno.com> wrote: >Do you want people to help you or leave you alone? Hello Jack Do you feel that it Is like talking to a wall here because you feel few people respond or because the responses are not on point or some other reason? Rado asked if I had posted this elsewhere and I did. I got more responses elsewhere, too, which may support your point, Jack. Personally, I want people to help me. I've tried unsuccesfully to get a couple of people to help me. It's very frustrating and discouraging that I had been in a frame of mind to work on my problem, but I can't get support and encouragement from the people from whom I wanted it the most.
