From: Eddie-Type2 on 12 Apr 2006 08:42 Hi Audrey, I went and visited that site you mentioned to Lorna. I noticed an interesting thing. I have been using FLEX that allows me 35 weekly points + 31 points per day = 252 points per week. According to Wendie's Plan, I would be using only 244 points per week. I understand the concept she is trying to advocate, but in effect, isn't it just really similar to the current FLEX points system from WW ? Is it possible that having 8 points less per week is what's resulting in weight loss? Just curious to know your thoughts......... Eddie Type 2 diabetes Last A1c = 5.8 Last BP=118/62 Weight June05-359lbs Current Weight-294.2lbs Loss to date=64.8lbs Goal Weight-153lbs

That was when people were given a range of points so rather than just 22 a day it was between 22 and 29. For example with 35 points some people may just add 5 points extra daily to their total points for the day. This is a definite plan to have high pt and low pt days. I can't be as exact with the pattern because things always seem to come up that throw me off. Note that with her example of someone eating between 22-29 a day her points were 22, 28, 23, 36-39, 22, 29, 27. So she had low days before and after the very high point day. I try to do the same. My friend who has maintained her 160 pound loss for over a year can't use flex points or she gains. She is limited to 22 points a day but do to some health problems she can't do much physical activity. It seems so low but she is in her late 60s, lives alone, and is happy to be thin every day for really the first time in her life. Obviously the less you eat, the more you will lose but I definitely think there is something about what you eat. I also think that if you are following the program exactly and still not losing that you need to try different things to shake up your metabolism. Audrey
From: Stormmee on 12 Apr 2006 13:17 I think her plan was based on an older [program where you got less points, Lee Eddie-Type2 <eddies(-)drafting(a)cogeco.ca> wrote in message news:MA6%f.30531$Hk1.20604(a)read1.cgocable.net... > Hi Audrey, > > I went and visited that site you mentioned to Lorna. > > I noticed an interesting thing. As I understand it the basis of the wendy plan is to increase food intake on one or two days a week and decrease it on the other days? If so the plan might have some basis in science. As I understand it (and please chip in if you think, or better know, I'm wrong). One of the problems with long term dietting especially when you are approaching normal weight is a slowing of your metabolism. Apparently this is caused by a decrease in leptin (whatever that is). One way to counter this is to 're-feed' particularly with carbs once or twice a week. So on the wendy plan the high days would be analogous to the refead days and the lower calorie days would be analogous to a low calorie diet. Allowing people some freedom on the high calorie days might mean they indulge in high sugar food, exactly what is required to maintain leptin. Just a thought. Ray

I began losing at a better per week rate when I started to Wendie near the end of my weight loss phase. I had slowed way down, and when I began deliberately having high and low days, voila, I started losing again at a nice rate and didn't stop losing until I got to goal. -- Lesanne "Eddie-Type2" <eddies(-)drafting(a)cogeco.ca> wrote in message news:MA6%f.30531$Hk1.20604(a)read1.cgocable.net... > Hi Audrey, > > I went and visited that site you mentioned to Lorna. > > I noticed an interesting thing.
