I beleive we have to reduce our calorie count, but be careful.

I recently learned something about something called calorie shifting.
Often when we decrease our calories, we also slow our metabolism.

If we vary our eating, with some high consumption days, we can keep
our metabolism high, and burn calories better.

What I learned is to have a high calorie day at least every 10 or so
days, to keep matabolism strong.

I have more at my blog: http://best-weight-loss-tips.blogspot.com/

Come see what I've got and tell me your favorite tips.

Your metabolism will always slow down, when you restrict calories.
Your liver and intestines use a lot of energy to convert food into
something we can use to sustain ourselves.

You can't "keep your metabolism high", for the same reason you can't
run a car that has no gas. You can avoid the discomfort of too low a
metabolic rate, for a while, but in the end, your metabolism will be
slowed when you restrict calories.

That's the main reason why, across every species tested, restricting
calories is the surest way to lengthen lifespan. Keeping your muscle
mass will help a great deal to keep you more comfortable, but
ultimately, you will simply need another blanket on the bed, or a
closer cuddle, to stay warm at night, and perhaps an extra sweater to
put on, in the winter.

It sounds odd, but you don't WANT to increase your metabolic rate, for
a longer and healthier life. You want to slow it down a bit. You can
do that by restricting your caloric intake, very nicely.
