Ok I confess my diet is pretty ordinary. I live on my own and find
cooking for one a drag. At the moment I am about 12 kilos overweight and
really should shed some of the excess.
I live in the tropics so have good acess to fish, tropical fruits and
don't mind eating my vegies. Although I have no idea of which ones are
best. Are pasta or rice OK or do I have to stick to rabbit food.
I excersise at least 3 times a week and would like to help balance this
with a better diet. What sort of foods are good for weight loss and what are
some good easy recipies.

I recommend you start by keeping a food log. One site that allows you
to do this is http://www.fitday.com Once you have a record of a week's
worth of eating, post again and we can make specific suggestions. In
the meantime, you have only a few variables to consider. You can change
the composition of your diet, you can change the total quantity of what
you eat, you can change when you eat. Each of these three has potential
to help you lose weight and each is worthy of your consideration.

If you are changing the composition of what you eat, most people today
do better with fewer refined carbohydrates, specifically less bread,
pasta, and rice. Also try to eliminate refined sugar and processed
food, sticking with whole fruits and vegetables, completely eliminating
soda, reducing or eliminating alcohol, and focusing on plenty of protein
and healthy fats. You can look into diets like Atkins and South Beach
that focus on eliminating or greatly reducing carbohydrates.

For a change in quantity, you simply need to eat less. The problem with
this approach is that it leaves many people hungry and they don't stick
to their diets, but it can work if you are disciplined.

As to the timing, there are two basic approaches. Either you eat 5-6
small meals spread evenly throughout the day, or you eat less often,
using intermittent fasting or the "warrior diet" approach of undereating
during the day and overeating in the evenings. Both of these approaches
have worked well for many people.

I hope that gives you some ideas - best of luck to you.
