Hi Everyone,

I am a 20 year old male and I use a wheelchair.
I used it due to have a disease called Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy.
I have had my Pronto M91 electric wheelchair for about a year now.
I have noticed I am gaining some weight.
Do you guys have any ideas on how I can take some weight off?
If you can help me out, that would be great.

Sincerely,
Hickster92

Unfortunately there is only one way I think. Take in less calories than you
use.
Sat in a wheelchair all day means you are most likely burning less than 500
per day.
I came to this conclusion when carefully weighing myself while eating exact
numbers of calories (actually calory marked packs of flat sliced chicken
only!)

2 packs per day (400 cals) + a multi vitamin pill just in case = Steady
continued weight loss. No other food at all for many weeks at a time. Only
occasional meals in resturants on special events and such.

Thats very very boring to do but a 5 stone loss over 12 months with an
occasional beer and maybe half a dozen real "normal" meals over the year.
19 stone down to 14. Many people will tell you that this diet is very
unhealthy and dangerous.
Well so is being fat! And it certainly didnt hurt me. However over 6 years
of much beer and takaways I mostly put it back again. So I am about to do it
all over again....

3 packs (600 cals) a day and no weight loss at all over 2 months test.
Dieting is very hard for wheelchair users so it has to be extreme and very
controlled.
Its like a car sat idling with nobody driving. The fuel lasts a very long
time so you dont need much..

Packs of flat chicken used only because I found they are accurate units with
calories clearly marked and are almost all protein.
Almost no fat.
Protein stops your hunger and your brain is satisfied. Its why the atkins
diet works - it stops your cravings for food..
No carbohydrates/sugar at all! They make you want more! Ever noticed you
cant eat one pringle? Or even a dozen?
No fatty foods like cheese, Pies, fried stuff etc for obvious reasons.
