It's about exenitide/byetta ...
"It may be possible to replace twice a day jabs to control type 2 diabetes
with a shot given just once a week, research suggests.

Scientists found a new formulation of the drug exenatide gave better control
of blood sugar levels than the current twice-daily regimen."

Does anyone remember Ultra-Lente? About 36 hours?

For a Type 2 who uses mostly lifestyle control and only needs a bit of extra
insulin, that could work. And for a careless regime such as the 'test every
few days' that came out of that awful, awful paper the PCT's are quoting when
recommending strip prescriptions, it could be workable.

My workign assumption is that with injections, you want to be able to counter
surprises and want a fast-acting insulin available.

So you only get one opportunity a week to adjust your dose? Wow thats
tempting.

CLANG! (irony alert)

unfortunately, Ultra Lente was discontinued 3 years ago, and all
remaining 'stores' of it were gone 2 years ago

i forget which manufacturer that was

the other manufacturer discontinued UL 2 years prior, and again, stocks
were depleted within a year of the announcement of the date they would
no longer make it............

sigh
