From: caramelbuttered on 10 Nov 2005 14:27 Sorry, I do not believe in that low carb craze. I would NEVER cut out oatmeal, brown rice and kidney beans as the are a great source of fiber and are good for your heart. My endocronologist did my blood work and was amazed at how good my good cholesterol is and I attibute it to me eating these foods. I have been eating oatmeal for breakast since I was a child and I have never gained weight from it. From: caramelbuttered on 10 Nov 2005 14:28 Probably some fried chicken or hot wings. LOL...I am laughing as I am typing this for some strange reason, but I love meat. I don't eat too many dessert-like foods.
From: caramelbuttered on 10 Nov 2005 14:30 Thanks for the link. I visited an endocronologist several months ago and my good cholesterol was very good. My bad cholesterol was at an acceptable level too. I am fit and have good muscle tone. I like to eat good during the week but on the weekends, I like to indulge from Friday night to Sunday night. I eat lost of greens, fiber and other good stuff, believe me.
From: caramelbuttered on 10 Nov 2005 14:55 See, that is my problem I love meat and am not too crazy about carbs. But my family has a high rate of high blood pressure and I do not want to run in those problems, hence me limiting my meat intake. I am African American so this puts me at risk, but I love meats and other type foods, this is why I am trying to find a way to make a compromise with my body. I figured since I love both healthy and and fatty foods, I would find a way to balance them out. And since I love to exercise anyway, that is never a problem. <<<I don't know if your good cholesterol is due to eating those foods or not. I am eating approximately the opposite diet to yours (a lot of meat and low carb) and my cholesterol is also within standards. I suspect that my cholesterol matches a "good profile" b ecause I am relatively young, and that what I eat matters little, but I am not sure. I also do not think that cholesterol, as such, causes heart disease. So, I do not place great importance on having "healthy" cholesterol. Half of the people who have heart attacks have normal cholesterol. >>
From: caramelbuttered on 11 Nov 2005 09:41 No, fortunately the members of my family are not fat. I think it may be a combination of stress and diet. High fat meats and fried foods cause high blood pressure. Plus, all the grease can clog your arteries. They began having high blood pressure in their 40s. I have never understood how people can actually lose weight eating meat, as much fat as meat has in it. Not to mention the sodium which can blow you up like a helium balloon.
