Typing is becoming difficult. Wikipedia has a link to this tech article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306537/en-us Apparently it's packaged as an option with Microsoft's Office XP suite. (I think Office 2007 also comes with speech recognition, but that's not the one the link is discussing). Hopefully it is compatibile with non-Office applications...if not, you should at least be able to dictate in MS Word, then cut and paste into other apps, which would save you loads of keyboard work. -Scott
From: Chuck on 12 Jul 2007 22:51 This is the Microsoft Windows XP Knowledge Base article about how to turn on speech to text capabilities, OR install the XP speech engine if it is not already installed. Hope this helps. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306537/EN-US/ "Me" <me(a)acmewidgets.com> wrote in message news:139d7t9dup1nk46(a)corp.supernews.com... > Is anyone here familiar with or had any experiences with voice recognition > software? From: Don on 13 Jul 2007 07:25 I am not sure if they still exist, but there are 3rd party programs such as "Naturally Speaking" and "Via Voice" that might do the job well. It was awfully expensive at the time (around $50K as I remember), but now it's around $100. http://www.digitalriver.com/v2.0-img/operations/scansoft/site/367062/367062_dns-talk.html
