I haven't experienced skewed a.m. vision since I've been using the eye drops, so I'm pretty sure that dry eye was/is my issue there. I've also stopped utilizing my ceiling fan during the night, and I think that's helping also. With regard to battery backup, my machine is a Remstar Plus M Series with C-Flex, and my pressure setting is 12cm. My DME wants $112 *just* for the DC cable I would need (cpap.com sells the same thing for $25), and he said I don't even want to know what they'd charge me for a deep-cycle marine battery, so he suggested I buy the equipment online. Although I want battery backup primarily for occasional in-home use here in Arizona, I'd prefer a lightweight system in case I do travel and want to take it along. To that end, I found a couple of lithium ion battery pack options on www.cpap.com that I'm considering. I think this one will work well enough for my purposes, with about 9 hours of usage time from a single charge: http://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/CPAP.com-Lithium-Ion-Battery-Pack-with-Respironics-12v-DC-Cable.html. This battery pack weighs just 2.5 lbs. (which makes it extremely appealing), and the cost is $280. There's another battery system available that offers about 3x the usage time at a cost of $450: http://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/c222_super_cpap_battery_pack_lithium_%20ion.html. This one weighs less than 5 lbs. (The usage times apply to my machine and my pressure setting. There's a chart on each of the web pages where you can input your machine type and pressure setting to determine usage times for your individual needs.) Has anyone used either of these batteries? If so, opinions will be appreciated. I also looked into an Uninterrupted Power Supply unit, but all of the units I see online concern backup power for computers. Since I'm not technically savvy, I don't know how a CPAP machine compares with the power needs of a PC. All of the technical info I'm reading is just confusing me, and I think I'd be better off with a simple solution like the all-inclusive battery options available through cpap.com. I also looked into a jump-start car battery and, although the cost is appealing, the size and weight of the battery is a negative factor. At this point, I'm not as concerned with the cost as I was initially. It's more important that I be able to sleep when I want and need to (and as easily as possible). Now I just have to decide which of the two units mentioned above I want to buy. Again, thanks for all the input. I hope some of the info I've included in this post is helpful to others.
