From: ChrisC on 20 Jun 2008 04:26 Why don't SSRI's work on me anymore? And Tricyclic's do. It's annoying because now I'm gaining weight exponentially. Which SSRI's did not do. Do I simply give up eating. My appetite hasn't changed, but I'm getting fatter again.
From: nanny on 21 Jun 2008 21:35 I've taken both an SSRI and a tricyclic antidepressant. Even some SSRI's put on weight, like Paxil, but yes, you're right about the weight gain in spite of eating the same way you've always done. If it's any help, in my case, I reached a plateau then the weight gain stopped. It's not my ideal weight, but the trade-off is worth it for me, because I need the sedative effect of a tricyclic (Doxepin, in my case). From: Carl on 22 Jun 2008 04:58 My SSRI still works for me but then again, I've only been on the lexapro about a year. I hope it continues to work. I have taken the older Tricyclics and they work too. My biggest problem with taking them is the awful constipation they bring.
