Here are two photos that show a painful red ring ("skin shear") around the
upper thigh from the top edge of a silicone liner, and a silicone liner that
is only partially (donned) rolled on. The gradual rounded curvature of the
liner at the top where it meets the skin allows the skin to be more flexible
and not SHEAR.

Rather than use water-based lotion, try using Preparation H or the
generac version which is much cheaper. It provides lubrication that
lasts much longer than lotion and its ingredients actually help reduce
the swelling that you might have.

I don't use a liner but I get it occasionally at the top of my socket
especially if I go in the water and wear a wetsuit. I'll line the
problem areas a bit as a preventative.
