Next: Do I have IBS?
From: Mask on 24 Sep 2006 00:08 Hi, I have been diagnosed with IBS and Fibromyalgia years ago but my symptoms are not as severe as some ...thank goodness and I have it in check. My question is: Sometimes but not all the times I will get a strange tingling down the left hand side of my face. Like an aesthetic from the dentist wearing off. I have noticed that within eight hours I will have a bowel workout ( as in sit on the toilet and evacuate ). After an hour or so the tingling in the side of my face disappears. NOW the doctors tell me there is NO way this could be linked to my bowels and say its migraine and just a coincidence with the link to the bowel. Does anyone else here experience the same? There is no pain and no headache. Just the tingling/numb feeling in eye, one side of mouth. This has been happening for a couple of years so its not doing me any harm by the way. I would just like to confirm that it is somehow connected to the bowel Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mask
From: Judy Bay on 24 Sep 2006 03:11 Sometimes I have a headache in a specific part of my head, relative to a specific part of my intestines that is full, or gassy. The location of the headache changes with the location of the intestinal situation. I've never discussed it with a doctor, though. I think it's a referred pain thing, like pinching your upper arm and getting a twinge in your knee, or some other odd place. From: Mask on 24 Sep 2006 03:43 Thanks for that your reply Judy and I agree that it must be some sort of referred symptom/pain from the bowel but my doctor and chiropractor say it cant be! There is no connection they say! Yes I know....the Drs say a lot of things......and they aren't always right :) Mask > Sometimes I have a headache in a specific part of my head, relative to a > specific part of my intestines that is full, or gassy. From: alevans on 24 Sep 2006 11:53 Have a look at accupuncture sites on the face, there are some really weird connections. That old eastern non-medical medicine thing is dumbfounding to me, things that can't possibly work, but do work. There was a recent study to measure the blood flow increased by massage, because everyone knows that massage works by increasing the blood flow. The only problem was that they proved that massage has no effect at all on the underlying tissues. It works, there is now doubt about that, it just does it in a way that we can't measure.
