(long story short) my old doc just up and left his practice (he had put me on Armour) well the present crisis in getting any here i had to go to a new doctor, and guess what she wanted to put me on?? You guessed it Synthroid!! I was like "no i dont do well on synthetics, i want natural." I told her i had been on the Thyrolar before and did well on it too! She told me "its hard to control you on natural hormones" Im like "what the freak?" Why are doctors told this??? So i fought hard and won!! Im back on Thyrolar, well at least until it starts having problems!! LOL Clarice

I am in Oregon and I got a prescription for Armour (90MG) filled at the local Costco. When the gal took my prescription, she hesitated, mumbled something about, "let me check to see..."went over to the shelf, knelt down and looked at a bottle and then came back and finished processing my prescriptions. I didn't think anything of it at the time, and she didn't say anything, but now I'm wondering if they have had different dosages become unavailable. > "agent starling" <bakertc(a)nctc.com> wrote in message > news:f6c8e86a-853c-4fe5-9e53-50db84a66c3a(a)e39g2000hsf.googlegroups.com... >>I was on Armour thyroid but since the present issues of getting it (i >> asked my pharmacist about problems with the Armour he said it's a >> materials issue) they dont have enough materials to make it he said. >> It's funny in the past i was on Thyrolar and was doing great on it and >> then they stopped making it too (in the past) and had to finally be >> put on Armour. From: nora on 11 Aug 2008 14:56 It is not about the materials (active ingredient, supposedly), but they are doing work at the factor that actually makes the Forest Armour Thyroid tablets. The raw material is still available from the supplier, so compounding pharmacies can make up any doses of Thyroid USP according to Shonmon's website and the thyroid.about.com forum. Certain strengths are short, according to tests. Lisa (who is married to a doctor, and the whole household including dog take Armour Thyroid) posted in the shortage thread or in the other thread that doc asks to speak to phamacy tech, who counts how many pills they have on stock, before asking to speak to the pharmacist, as the pharmacist always says Armour has been discontinued , or they have noen i9 stock, or something like that. It has something to do with not wanting to do the math , like two one-grain tablets make up two grains, or six half-grain talbets make up one-and a half grain, or something like that. They have reported about pharmacies not being able to do any maths like that, or having english as their third language...... go and check over ther yourself. Many pharmacies also just tell their cutsomers Armour has been discontinued ( perhaps to avoid making up the dose from different strength tablets....)... nora
