thyroidless now, after thyroidectomy Hello everyone, I am new to this site. My question is - I had a partial thyroidectomy in 1997, due to a goiter, no cancer. Now I am thyroidless..partial remaining lobe, shriveled up. I am very confused on what meds to take. Do I need to supplement all t4, t3, free t4, etc. I have seen so many Gps. and endo's, all ... 31 Mar 2006 01:52
UK WARNING! Becareful with some private "metabolic clinic" Doctors!!! Just a brief message to let everyone know about what happened to me. I recently visited Dr. Barry Durrant-Peatfield who I knew he had been suspended by the GMC (General Medical Coucil) back in 2001. I had no problems with that since I had red the article about why he had been suspended, which basically was due to n... 9 Apr 2006 06:32
Check this? Without going into gory details, lab results and whatnots: Am I correct in thinking that a TSH antibody test is in order before I agree to radiation treatment for my hyperthyroidism? Wouldn't it be NICE to know if I have Graves'? Are there any other diagnostic blood tests I should ask for? Thanks :D ++++++... 29 Mar 2006 15:34
Had we but world enough, and time... One of the things I have noticed, both here and on a Dutch language hypothyroid support board I moderate, is that many newly diagnosed hypothyroid people very much agree with Andrew Marvell's "Had we but world enough, and time, this coyness, Lady, were no crime". For those unfamiliar with it, the poet tells a ... 28 Mar 2006 21:15
Can't find Armour/Thyroid in Canada, Doctor wants me on Cytomel by itself- good idea? In Quebec, it is proving impossible to find Thyroid (Armour). From my understanding, it was made by Phizer who sold the agency to Efra in 2005, and there was a supply glitch during this change over. My doctor had never heard of it, and rang some pharmacies. She was told that a) the drug doesn't exist, b) it's not a... 24 Mar 2006 21:53

high liver enzymes I got part of my labs back and my enzymes were literally off the charts!! ALT 200, AST 78. Doc wants to retest and run a hepatitis panel as well as other tests. She said the good thing was that it wasn't to do with alcohol - the AST would be higher than ALT. This didn't reassure me , liver problems that are not al... 23 Mar 2006 15:51

Do these test results warrant treatment? TSH 2.65 (.32-4.82) T3 Uptake 38.08 (24.2-39.1) T4 6.8 (6.5-10.5) Free T4 7.7 (6.0-11.4) While everything is in range T3 Uptake and T4 are close to the limit. Doctor says everything is fine. I am not sure I feel that way. Why are doctors so reluctant to try treatment? Thanks ... 22 Mar 2006 18:00 |
