Thyroid and Psychoses
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." George Santayana (1863-1952), U.S. philosopher, poet. I'd heard something of an article to do with Myxedema and Madness. In common with many others, I guess that I thought it would be as irrelevant as so many old papers are - simply absorbed... 14 Aug 2008 10:22
SAD, Thyroid and.... sheep
Just picked up this story from the horse's mouth (ha, ha). Thought it of interest so posting the whole press release. Seems to be well covered in UK media - not surprising there's nothing serious happening in the world. :-( Nonethless, it is of potentially huge relevance to the validity of TSH testing... ... 14 Aug 2008 04:13
Mystery Diagnosis - Thyroid
Perhaps lame ; ) - but I was watching a show last night on TLC. I never watch this show, but it caught my eye because the story was about a woman who had nearly debilitating symptoms - fibromyalgia-like pain, intense fatique, hair falling out, etc. She went to many doctors over a period of a few years, and no o... 15 Aug 2008 06:53

chronically tired!
Hello, I am a 28 year old male, weighing approx 200lbs, with a total thyroidectomy (2002), on 175 mcg of synthroid. For many years I have been on 200mcg of synthroid. It was changed to 175mcg maybe 4-5 months ago. Over the last two-three months, I have noticed a considerable lack of energy and weight gain and I ... 31 Aug 2008 18:46
Cholesterol and Thyroid Hormone
One common story here is of people having high cholesterol levels. Not infrequently they have had problems reducing these levels and sometimes are on statins. (Despite the possibility of nasties such as rhabdomyolysis when hypoTs are treated with statins, doctors seem not to do thyroid tests, or to prescribe st... 7 Aug 2008 21:43

I showed her my 24h urine cortosol was lowish at 5 [5-50] but she just blew that off. DHEA,s is a bit high, and I'm just a tad hy... 28 Aug 2008 16:15
