From: Viviane on 8 Jun 2008 03:13 Yep the doc is aware of thyroid. It was reading the fine print that put the wind up my kilt. The doc thinks that Betadine will clear all germs away. It hasn't made things worse nor has it made me better! The only beneficiary so far is the pharmacist! I get my blood levels checked regularly (every couple of months at the moment) as I've been having a difficult time with getting the medication right. I hadn't thought about the cancer affecting the immune system but that would explain a lot. It's winter here in Australia so I think it's time to be kind to myself! Thanks for all comments. I can't disagree with you because I don't know much about that - and it does sort of make some sense. I'd hazard a guess that, unless you under 60 Kg - which you might be, you are currently under-dosed on thyroxine. -- Rod Hypothyroidism is a seriously debilitating condition with an insidious onset. From: Tumbleweed on 8 Jun 2008 13:09 Betadine isn't going to do anything but act as an antiseptic. Unless you have a bacterial infection it isn't going to do anything for you with regards to your thyroid. From: Viviane on 9 Jun 2008 03:43 I was thinking of Alan B Mac Farlane's comment re cancer and immune system, which was something I'd never considered. Equally, I can see that a persistent throat problem would also affect the immune system. They all become inter-related after a while! I am about 58 kg so come in under the magic threshold you mentioned. My weight stays within 55-60kg, depending on eating habits! It really is a juggling act. So you could still be hypo! -- Rod Hypothyroidism is a seriously debilitating condition with an insidious onset.
