The article cited requires a paid subscription to Nature.

According to the citation in the New York Times
(http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/28/science/28cell.html), it doesn't address
the immune problem that destroyed the beta cells in the first place, and is
therefore interesting in biological research terms, but probably useless for
Type 1 diabetes. And it's nearly useless for those Type 2's whose diabetes is
rooted in insulin resistance, which is the vast majority of diabetics.
