From: ~*LiveLoveLaugh*~ on 11 Feb 2006 17:38 This has probably been discussed here before... in fact, I'm sure of it. But, out of curiosity, if you are currently taking something for your depression (associated with FMS), what is it, and how much do you take? And, do you think it helps? Me? Cymbalta - 60 mgs. a day. Yes, I do think it helps w/"masking" the pain brought on by fibro. Seraquol - 300 to 400 mgs. a day. So far, I do not know if it's working b/c so far, I'm still majorly depressed. `Am still considering going back to the "therapy" I was r'cving while in the hospital, or even possibly looking at VNS. -- ?.??? ?)) -:?:- ?.?? .????)) From: carolj on 11 Feb 2006 18:03 I was depressed when I first learned of having fibro and I tried several anti-depressants.......frankly I just couldn't put up with the side effects and I stopped taking anything for that. I started journally again and it really helped me. Plus I forced myself on the weekends, when my impulse was to just stay in bed, to get up, get dressed and open the curtains, take a walk outside, something, anything to get myself out into the sunlight. It really helped me. Hope you get something out of this that helps you too.... Carol J
From: DeeDee on 11 Feb 2006 18:28 Laurie, I have tried a few AD's and cannot tolerate any of them. I get higher than a kite and cannot sleep at all. Then they tried a med that is opposite of AD...???...and I cried all day long. I take Ultram and have heard that it actually has a type of AD tendency with it. Cannot remember what it actually is, but I can handle that. I hope you do make the decision to go into some type of therapy. Talking it out and getting another "outside" opinion on all that has gone on if your life lately would really help I think. Hugs, Dana
From: Nina,Princess of Pain on 11 Feb 2006 21:58 I've tried many AD's and always come back to prozac. 40 mg's right now. Not working real well, but I am under a lot of stress and in a flare that's been going on a couple week's. Laurie, I'm still trying to figure out my depression symptoms. I go back and forth between calling it depression and calling it frustration. Both of my current FM meds are AD's - 60mg of Cymbalta in the morning and 50mg of nortriptylene at night. It has greatly helped my sleep patterns and my general outlook on life, but I'm super frustrated with being someone who struggles to get through work and then just comes home and crashes. I feel like all I have energy to do is work and sleep! I think that anyone who was stuck in that cycle and didn't have energy to have fun once in awhile would feel crummy. Since I added the Cymbalta I have hurt a bit less and been a little perkier. Good luck on your quest for smiles! Jenny |
