Hold on a minute here, please. Why post a "smartass response"????
Let's look back in time...

Wasn't I the one to begin a particular effort to explore a topic with
smd'ers which ultimately came to be known as "The TMJ Iatroepidemic"
(the project and the title of a book)? Was that a "Usenet crusade"? A
crusade ... hmmm ???? Okay, if "crusade" is what you wish to call "it",
then let's define "crusade" and other related words which convey thought
in response to your two sentences above. Why would I think for a moment
that this decision of yours has anything to do with me? At the
conclusion, you can answer the question only if you wish. But I have
asked the question straight out.

Definitions from http://www.m-w.com

My term defined first:

begin: 1 : to do the first part of an action : go into the first part of
a process : START

start: 1 : to do the first part of an action : go into the first part of
a process : START

project: 1 : a specific plan or design : SCHEME

scheme: 3 : a plan or program of action; especially : a crafty or secret
one

(And after an entire year all alone in smd, a second person, a
previously silent party and project partner, did come into smd to lend
another voice to this action for yet another year and a half. Two and
one-half years of round the clock work ... and I turned into "we" as the
enemies of smd for what good reason???? I'll tell you what the reason
was ... it was because of smd's general need to deny that a certain
degree of ignorance over what to do with or about "TMJ patients" was the
way of the land. In the early to mid 1990's, who in smd knew about the
NTI that almost every regular in smd has now heard of and more than
likely has considered prescribing it for patients ... and even for
themselves!!! What?????????? Yes .... how many dentists who fought the
project (not even realizing that there was a "project" in place) have an
NTI in their night stands??? That's quite a turn around, isn't it?

Your term next:

crusade: 2 : a remedial enterprise undertaken with zeal and enthusiasm

remedial: 1 : intended as a remedy 2 : concerned with the correction of
faulty study habits and the raising of a pupil's general competence

(remedy: 2 : something that corrects or counteracts)

enterprise: 1 : a project or undertaking that is especially difficult,
complicated, or risky

In summation, I believe that if exposing "the TMJ iatroepidemic" in smd
was a "crusade" as defined above, then it was a worthy effort and one
that you should find reason to be "proud" of as a "soldier for your
position" in the project. I will never apologize for having a
willingness to still believe in humanity. All of us exposed our minds
in front of the world in usenet ... so what's the difference if it is on
paper? Well, we know that usenet is a great abyss; a black hole where
context and continuity beyond a few threads is lost. But netcanting ...
now that was a novel idea! You must think of Webby & Chang when you
read or hear the word "netcanting". Unfortunately, the Netcantings in
the book were cut short because of the cyber attack and their value was
left never to be known... but I know what they were then and what they
would be today because I was the author of the Netcantings. Still, I
think almost daily about the next manuscript; the sequel to "The TMJ
Iatroepidemic". So what I'm really saying is this: *I* have no
intention of using Usenet posts ever again because "you guys" had your
chance to be heard.

The project was *always* intended to have been for the sake of
***everyone concerned*** ... and that includes you, carabelli. You
still don't "get it", do you? (It's just a rhetorical question unless
you wish to reply, of course.) Personally, I think you do "get it" but
you still prefer to doubt the whole thing to have been "fair play"
because some woman came into smd with a particular wit that almost
everyone ignored. She came in and then he came in and then that
"project" took everyone with their eyes and minds closed by surprise.

Most people in smd at the time, 1994-1997 couldn't even figure out that
search engines were on the horizon in 1995, much less would they have
thought that individuals would maintain their own private database of
smd for the sake of something more important than themselves!!! It's a
lesson in the need to keep your eyes on the road or you may end up where
you didn't intend to go. It was indeed a wake up call identifying the
power in the language of Usenet and Usenet people as a society and
culture.

See yourself/yourselves and the power you have in Usenet and decide how
you can best put that power to good use and how easily you can put it to
useless use or even worse.

carabelli, I forgot to define one other word; actually, it was one you
introduced into smd a long ago:

wit:
1 a : MIND, MEMORY b : reasoning power : INTELLIGENCE
2 a : SENSE 2a -- usually used in plural <alone and warming his five
wits, the white owl in the belfry sits -- Alfred Tennyson> b (1) :
mental soundness : SANITY -- usually used in plural (2) : mental
capability and resourcefulness : INGENUITY
3 a : astuteness of perception or judgment : ACUMEN b : the ability to
relate seemingly disparate things so as to illuminate or amuse c (1) : a
talent for banter or persiflage (2) : a witty utterance or exchange d :
clever or apt humor
4 a : a person of superior intellect : THINKER b : an imaginatively
perceptive and articulate individual especially skilled in banter or
persiflage
- at one's wit's end or at one's wits' end : at a loss for a means of
solving a problem

(the) Webbie With Wit aka WWW ... and so on and so forth .... and soon,
you became carabelli. History ... it may be water under the bridge but
all that water stays on the planet.
