I got some blood glucose meter control solution that's 100 mg/dL of
glucose and tested my Bayer Contour meter with it--have only tested it
twice, but it came out to 94 and 96, not bad. So I'm reassured that
the meter works.

Unfortunately, that leaves my fasting glucose level at 154 - 160
mg/dL. I've been very low-carb (<10g) for the last eight months. And
I am losing weight. I'm taking the maximum metaformin and januvia
daily.

Any suggestions about new/other medications/supplements I should ask
my doctor about? Have to get my blood glucose down another 35 points.

Thanks in advance.

i'd add a basal insulin like Lantus, just to rest your beta cells a bit,
and give them a chance to cover meal time bg excursions

don't know if you can take that with Januvia at the same time

good luck

Glad to see you're getting down to business.

Is that <10gm every meal and snack or per day? How do you
estimate the carb content of your meals?

Give an example - today, what was the menu - breakfast,
lunch, dinner, sides. What were your post-prandial
(after-eating) BGs an hour after them. If you don't know,
possibly you could find out after your meals tomorrow.

Before you ask the doctor anything, read these:

What are your post-meal readings like? If they're good, that could be
a huge Dawn Phenomenon, and there's things you can try for that - but
it's only worth-while if your pp readings are in range.
