I was hoping to get more comments here as to what people have tried. I have
used a locking pin for ten years and I guess I was really curious about the
amputees using a suction system. Oh well........

Comparisons may be tough since many have only used one type, like me.
Been on suction for almost 25 years.

I'm an lbk and I tried a pin and lock system first but I had problems
with shearing forces on the front tip of the tibia. It was either get
revision surgery to shave off the protruding bone or try suction
socket.I went to suction in '03 and aside from the heavier weight I like
it better. The pin and lock was faster and more convenient to don and
doff but once it's on what's the diff.It looks like I'll be giving up my
suction socket now though as I'm having circulation problems in the
stump and it looks like I'll be joining the AK ranks.Either that or just
use crutches all the time.I'd rather go for the surgery and have the
shot at walking without crutches with an AK.
I think pin and lock or suction both have their advantages, comes down to
personal preference and what's comfortable.I was lucky enough to have a
prosthetist that tried both to find what worked.
