From: ralph p. on 27 Apr 2008 14:15 hi, thanks for the info! more questions: 1. are the eakin seals really different than the hollister? 2. do the seals come off at pouch change time? i'm assuming that is necessary. but if so, doesn't that double the cost? the seals seem to cost as much as the pouches. --ralph p. I don't know how to ensure that the area around the (ileo)ostomy is cleaner and drier than mild soap and lots of swabs can make it, but so far the seals don't stick to my skin as well as stoma paste and I've got a lot of excoriation. -- Robin (BrE) Herts, England
From: Jim Kerr on 29 Apr 2008 00:09 Not quite sure about comparing Eakin to Hollister, but if you press-apply the seal to the wafer first, the whole thing should come off when you change. There is a slight amount of residue left over, but if you have residue than it means you got a good seal. Yes the seals are expen$ive, but they dramatically increase my wear time. I find they are worth the extra money. Just as a note, I use the powder around the stoma before application for some extra protection. Good luck in your endeavours.
