Alert Medicine Hi, I was wondering if any of you knew of any medicine that I could take that would keep me alert during the day? I've been trying to work on this sleep problem from the sleep angle, but nothing seems to really work. I thought maybe I could tackle it from the other angle... maybe there is medicine that would ke... 5 Aug 2008 01:57
newbie (yet another) I picked up my CPAP machine yesterday. I am using the nasal pillows with a chinstrap. The machine is set to 12mm. I have an adjustable ramp that I set to 5 minutes. It starts at 5mm. I feel like I am suffocating until it hits about 6.5, but I like the ramp feature so I will live with that. It has a heated humidi... 7 Aug 2008 14:31
Differences in Ambien and Ambien CR Hi, I've got perscription from the doctor for Ambien CR. I went to the pharmacy today and they told me that it was $142/month, which I thought was way too much. The doctor has given me samples of Ambien CR before and they seem to help me quite a bit. I also have perscription of Ambien, but it doesn't help me th... 2 Aug 2008 02:21
bacteria and allergies? I understand that bacteria can form in my bipap equipment if not cleaned regularly. Question is: can bacteria cause allergies to flare up with sniffles, sneezing, watery eyes, etc. I asked my bipap provider and they say no but no matter what medication I take, my allergies act up every few days and this has ... 7 Aug 2008 09:21

xPAP is a Family Affair It's been awhile since I checked in, so I thought I'd give an update. I've been on BiPAP therapy for about 1-3/4 years. I've just had my third bump in pressures, now up to 12/8. I am doing MUCH better than when I first posted to this group when I first was diagnosed and started therapy. DH was diagnosed... 27 Jul 2008 15:35
Newbie 20 days on, cleaning stuff I would like to think things are progressing nicely. One thing I have found is that cleaning suggestions (frequency) vary widely. Ideally once a day would be good but for most everyday just isn't doable all the the time. A nurse suggested that you can really "get by" doing once a week (not ideal but you can). S... 5 Aug 2008 21:28
CPAP trial (Newbie) Dear all, thanks for all your messages of support when I asked for any hints for starting my CPAP trial. Well, I've got a trial Res Med S8 now for 2 weeks to see how I get on with it, but I don't seem to even be able to keep the mask on for more than a minute without panicking, (it's like I'm suffocating), and whe... 1 Aug 2008 23:18

Was watching natgeo channel sometime back and in that program they said, playing Didgeridoo helps in strengthening the muscles of the upper airway and thus reducing the sleep apnea. Night Two with the Full Face CPAP Night two was a bit better. Despite my ear infections I decided to use earplugs which made a bit of a difference. Still got the occasional leaks but they didn't appear to wake me. The bottom lip of the mask seems to be the most comfortable around the middle of my chin but I'm not sure if that is how it is suppo... 21 Jul 2008 16:11
Beginning CPAP trial newbie Dear Friends, I've been a member of this usergroup since I began to seek help for excessive snoring.(I can be heard 3 floors away) Since then I've gone through sleep studies, been diagnosed with 'a significant apnea index' and given dates eventually for a CPAP trial beginning the 24th July when I spend a couple of... 17 Jul 2008 14:47
Penn and Teller's next TV show on sleep FYI, It looks like Penn and Teller's next episode of B***S*** is on sleep and how much we need. I know from migraine groups, that sometimes it makes the members cringe when the media pokes around, and makes assumptions about stuff (and of course it depends on whether Penn and Teller are dissecting your pet project... 25 Jul 2008 08:23 |
