From: sheder1 on 1 Jul 2008 20:53 A young friend of mine, 19 years old, has just had this diagnosis. I understand from her Mom that this is a very rare form of ovarian cancer. What can anyone tell me about this? It was discovered from abdominal distention, subsequent surgery and removal of a 20 pound tumor. My young friend promptly named her tumor "Joe." She was away at college and living there. Went to the campus clinic and they told her she was constipated and needed a good enema. Well, she was constipated, but the enema did not relieve the discomfort although it did do its job. She went to her PC who referred her for scans, and that is how the tumor was found, removed, tissue sent to pathology, etc. Any info appreciated. And, of course, prayers. I would refer her Mom to this site except now it seems to be overrun with kooks and trolls. I am not sure the support they need would be available. Such a pity.

A rare, but usually benign and slow-growing tumor ? If the pathology report confirms it (benign), she's had all the treatment and support required? http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001172.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sertoli-Leydig_cell_tumour http://edbook.ascopubs.org/cgi/content/abstract/2008/1/225 Sorry, not sure.. < http://www.bccancer.bc.ca/HPI/CancerManagementGuidelines/Gynecology/OvaryNonepithelial/DiagnosisStaging.htm > J

I can google and wikipedia with the best of them I am looking more for first hand knowledge/experience. And about someone relatively in her age group. Support for teen cancers is hard to find..
