From: rhanson via MedKB.com on 23 May 2007 04:56 Hi Everyone, Last year I posted a couple questions here and recieved wonderful responses from some of you. You guys helped me realize the importance of researching the disease and that I should have taken a more active role in my treatment. Thanks for that! I know I read something about the likelyhood of SVR and testing undetectable at 12 or 24 weeks but can't seem to find that information again. I have been all over the place trying to find the info. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. My uncle recently started the Tx and so have some others that I know. I would like to offer them a few pointers so they don't make the same mistakes I did during the treatment and to help make sure they have the best chance possible at beating this. There is power in knowledge (and numbers) right? Thanks! -- Message posted via MedKB.com http://www.medkb.com/Uwe/Forums.aspx/hepatitis-forum/200705/1

Short answer: For genotype 1s, a viral load drop of at least 2log (that'd be 99%) by week 12 is generally necessary to remain in the running for SVR, and clearing by week 12 portends a very good shot at SVR. Conversely, failure to reach a 2log drop at week 12, or not being clear by week 24, are profoundly negative indicators for SVR for g1s. Not clearing by 24 weeks usually leads to treatment discontinuation if following the conventional treatment regimen. /greyhackles
