From: George Parton on 16 Sep 2005 12:43 Hi all, I haven't been here for a while so I thought I should check in for an update. I celebrated a birthday yesterday so I feel thankful the dastardly lupus has been thwarted for another year. I have provided the link below which is a good explanation of the new (chemo type) therapy I am getting. It is called Retuxin therapy. I have had 3 infusions with one more to go. My Rheumy doctor is enthusiastic as am I. I will try to come back with results after I have completed the series. This therapy holds great promise and I hope it may be of benefit to others here. From: Mo on 17 Sep 2005 01:25 Hi George, Good to hear that it is working for you. I went to the link you added. So, this therapy is high doses of cyclophosphomide? How's the after effects? When I was getting the high dose IV treatments I was REALLY ill for about 3 days. Mo
From: BJ on 17 Sep 2005 12:28 Hi George, I am a little late, but Happy Birthday to you. I hope you had a really nice day. Retuxin is used for people who have thrombocytopenia. Doctors seem to turn to that, if the platelets do not respond to prednisone and IVIG. I did not realize that it was used for other lupus related problems. Are you on pred as well? I will be interested to hear how it works for you long term. My platelets have taken a downturn and I have thought of requesting Retuxin, if I need treatment again. Good luck with this and keep us posted. BJ-Sk.
