don't spose you want to let your reader leave the quotes in? hard to
tell who's responding to who. or whom. whichever is correct.

when the > things are there, you can see the "depth" of conversation
immediately (as scruffy as it seems)

Those are chevrons and I didn't remove them. It's a strange anomaly with
Windows Mail (which replaced OE) that came packaged with Vista.
