HI,

I am wondering if my expectations are just unrealistic in terms of how soon
a doctor should get back to me.

If you contacted your doctor, because the pain managment he switch you to is
not working, and you are in pain. Assuming that you made it very clear that
you are currrently in pain, and what she /he did is not work.. How long
would you expect to have to wait for a response before they contacted you or
did something to help you with being in pain?

Thanks,

Jamie

Jamie, you are trying to reach your physician at a difficult time.
Holidays are the pits to reach your physician. It's not fair, but
that's the reality of it, if you tried to reach your MD from after
closing hours on Thurs until Tuesday morning for the past two holiday
weekends, it's not likely that you would get through. You have a
legitimate gripe, you should not have to wait days for a reply, but
honestly, the holidays are difficult in every business, and like it or
not medicine is now a business.--fran

Its just frustrating that they were closed on monday, then I called
yesterday, they said they had my fax, they knew I was waiting,, and still
nothing today. I guess I am just being a little inpaient, but my normal
docs office would have responded a lot quicker even if they are
busy...espicall to a situation where u are in pain....

The pain has just been worse this past week for some reason.. I can't
figure out why at all though...

By the end of the day. However, you said you faxed the dr. I have never
done this and don't know how you got his fax #. Perhaps he never got the
message. You are suppose to call his nurse .... that is how our health
system works in this area and where your dr. works.

If my doctor waited that long to get back to me, I'd be switching doctors. Even for something not that important, my doctor calls me by the end of the day. If he's out then the nurse practitioner calls me. I would call again and insist on speaking with the doctor's nurse. Usually they are the ones with the "direct line" to the doctor anyways. It's possible that he did not get your fax or even the message that you were hurting and needed to hear from him. I'd try again though.........
