From: Captain Infinity on 6 Jun 2006 06:21 Has anyone else experienced this? The blue gel of my Respironics mask is becoming discolored, as if it's losing dye. It's turning amber. I wash it regularly, and I haven't noticed any blue tint on my face. Is this normal? Do I have a bad mask? Am I absorbing dye? ** Captain Infinity

The instructions that came with it? The Doctor? The DME? The RT? A friend? This NG? The only instructions I've ever received were from the documention that came with the mask and the CRT. They both said the same thing... vinegar and water. However, I have no need to use anything to clean my mask. It only goes on a clean face, so it stays clean. Once in a while a little dry skin accumulates and I blow it out. > > ** > Captain Infinity

I had no idea what soap to use; have used dishwashing liquid, also clothes-washing soap. After reading this group, I stopped doing it every day. I now either wash it under the tap with a little hand-soap, or immerse it in luke-warm plain water. About once in 7-10 days, I do the immersion in soapy water routine. |
